"We believe that children should start school healthy, happy, communicative, sociable, curious and active",  and we ensure that we prepare our children in the best way possible, in a non-regimented and stable environment ready for their next step in life.

Children Learn What They Live (1969) (by Dorothy Law Nolte, PhD)

If children live with criticism,

they learn to condemn.

If children live with hostility,

they learn to fight.

If children live with ridicule,

they learn to be shy.

If children live with shame,

they learn to feel guilty.

If children live with tolerance,

they learn to be patient.

If children live with encouragement,

they learn confidence.

If children live with praise,

they learn to appreciate.

If children live with fairness,

they learn justice.

If children live with security,

they learn to have faith.

If children live with approval,

they learn to like themselves.

If children live with acceptance and friendship, they learn to find love in the world.

Windlesham Village Pre-school is privately owned.  We are based in the Windlesham Village Club and Theatre.  We have excellent facilities which include a large hall, two separate ‘quiet rooms’ for extension work away from the main hall, the use of a large stage for our various performances and a well equipped securely fenced outside grassed area.  We have  recently been awarded an Early Years Grant enabling us to completely re-vamp the outside area to include a Summerhouse which adds another important dimension to the curriculum.  There is plenty of off-road parking for parents.

We liaise closely with all local schools.  We welcome children from all backgrounds between the ages of 2 and 5 years, aiming to promote their development and education through play in a happy, safe and secure environment where each child can socialise and interact freely.  We will ensure that each child fulfils their own individual potential, and through reassurance, praise and encouragement, they will develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Our varied and stimulating curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Principles, devised by the QCA and DfEE.  Each child is supported in developing their own individual potential at their own pace, through activities which are appropriate for their ability.  This ensures that they meet or exceed the Government guidelines by the time they move on to school.

We gradually introduce phonetics and numeracy in a fun and exciting way, which is consolidated into a ‘work book’ for those children leaving in the Summer Term in an optional afternoon session. This is completed under the guidance of teachers, introducing the children to more structured work, preparing them for their new schools.  Reading books are also available to borrow at this time, for practise at home.

Cooking is a weekly activity.  Free-painting and drawing/colouring are always available and we ensure that the children have a wide choice of materials to complete their activities.

The children are encouraged to explore, socialise, interact and have fun, increasing their social skills and confidence.  Above all, we treat the children as valued members of the school, offering praise and reassurance.  We believe we have a very happy school, where children flourish and learn at their own pace and are able to reach their own individual potential.
